How to Reach Decision-Makers in UK Manufacturing (2026)

To reach decision-makers at UK manufacturers, build the account list from Companies House SIC codes and trade association directories, map the operations, engineering and procurement people who own the problem, then lead with the phone and back it with short emails. For B2B teams that want this run for them, throxy builds a custom database for each campaign and books qualified meetings through cold calling and cold email, with specialist SDRs in 10+ languages.
This guide is published by throxy. Outside facts link to their source and were checked on 5 November 2026.
UK manufacturing in numbers
UK manufacturers sold £452.0 billion of products in 2025, down 1.8% from £460.3 billion in 2024, and food is the largest division at 22.9% of sales (ONS). Manufacturing also has more large businesses than any other UK sector, 1,240 of them (Business population estimates 2025, published 2 October 2025). The market is wide, so the work is choosing the sub-sector and the moment.
Pick the sub-sector first
“Manufacturing” is too broad to write one message for. Pick sub-sectors by SIC code in the Companies House advanced search, which filters companies by nature of business, status, type and incorporation date (Companies House). Example codes from the SIC list:
25620 Machining
25110 Manufacture of metal structures and parts of structures
22290 Manufacture of other plastic products
28990 Manufacture of other special-purpose machinery n.e.c.
29320 Manufacture of other parts and accessories for motor vehicles
33120 Repair of machinery
Each code gives you a different buyer, a different pain and a different reason to talk. Write one campaign per code group.
Who to target
In a manufacturer, the person who feels the problem, the person who specifies the fix and the person who signs the order are often three different people. Map all three before you write.
Operations director or plant manager: owns output, downtime and staffing on the shop floor.
Engineering manager or head of engineering: specifies equipment, tooling and technical suppliers.
Procurement or purchasing manager: runs supplier selection, tenders and contract terms.
Managing director or owner: at smaller firms, often the problem owner and the signer in one.
Finance director: signs off larger contracts once the problem owner wants to move.
Where to find UK manufacturers
Companies House by SIC code. Filter the advanced search by the codes above and by region (Companies House). For a full list, the Free Company Data Product is a free CSV snapshot of live companies, updated within five working days of each month end (Companies House).
Trade associations. GTMA represents UK precision engineering, toolmaking, metrology and related manufacturing firms, and lists more than 1,200 manufacturing products and services on its site (GTMA). Make UK brings manufacturers together in regional and national communities and publishes sector reports such as its Investment Monitor 2026, dated 2 November 2026 (Make UK reports).
Trade events. MACH 2026 at the NEC Birmingham had 26,000 attending, and the next edition is MACH 2028 (MACH). Subcon, a sourcing event for subcontract manufacturing, runs at the NEC on 9 and 10 June 2027 (Subcon). Southern Manufacturing and Electronics runs at Farnborough on 2 to 4 February 2027 (Southern Manufacturing). Advanced Engineering, held at the NEC on 4 and 5 November 2026, keeps a public exhibitor list (Advanced Engineering). Exhibitor lists give you named companies to research.
Senior forums. Manufacturing Leaders’ Summit is an invitation-only forum for more than 250 manufacturing leaders, on 10 and 11 November 2026 at the Titanic Hotel, Liverpool (Manufacturing Leaders’ Summit). Its published themes, such as productivity without more hiring, tell you what senior buyers are discussing this year.
When manufacturing buyers reply
Manufacturing buyers reply when something changes: a new site, a new line, a contract win, a hiring push in operations or engineering, or a supplier problem. Build the list around these moments and reach the problem owner that week. The manufacturing outbound playbook covers sequences and messaging in more depth.
Choose the channel by buyer
Phone first. Plant and operations managers spend the day away from a desk, and buyers in traditional industries are rarely active on LinkedIn (throxy). A direct call reaches them.
Short email to warm the name. One operational problem, one line of proof, one question.
LinkedIn as a light third touch for engineering and procurement buyers who research suppliers before they reply.
Stay inside the UK rules
Before live B2B calls, screen numbers against both the Corporate Telephone Preference Service and the Telephone Preference Service, plus your own do-not-call list. Sole traders and some partnerships count as individuals under PECR, so the stricter rules for individuals apply to them. B2B emails to companies must say who you are and give a valid address to opt out (ICO). The ICO says this guidance is under review after the Data (Use and Access) Act, so check it before each campaign.
How throxy reaches manufacturing buyers
A custom database for every campaign. throxy qualifies and scores companies first, using public signals such as hiring, partnerships and website content, then maps the people inside each account (lead finding and qualification).
Messages written by people. Every hook is tied to verified company context, and a human reviews every message before it goes out (messaging).
Specialist SDRs cold call in 10+ languages alongside cold email, research each account and get past gatekeepers (cold calling).
Email sent from separate domains across more than 150 mailboxes, each warmed for two weeks before launch (deliverability).
One onboarding form, and the campaign goes live by day 14 (done-for-you outbound).
A flat monthly fee plus a fee for each qualified meeting you approve. You get 24 hours to accept or reject each meeting, and it has to take place to be chargeable (how throxy prices).
For the same approach across three sectors, read how to reach decision-makers in manufacturing, logistics and construction, or the UK guides for logistics and construction.
